Normalcy Returns After Clash of ‘Area Boys’ on Lagos Island

A combined team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Taskforce and Area A Police Command deployed to Idumota, Tom Jones, Martins, Oluwole and adjoining areas of the Lagos Island have been able to maintain peace and order after area boys took their supremacy fights across the neighborhood on Friday.
According to a Facebook user, Samuel Salami, he wrote, “the area is calm, while everyone is going about their lawful duties.
Not all shops are fully opened but security agencies are on ground and have assured market men and women to open their shops.
The security operatives are on standby at strategic positions to forestall any form of violence or hoodlums taking advantage of the situation.”
Early morning of Friday, a report of fracas between area boys with heavy gunshots were said to have caused disruptions sending jitters down the spines of traders and commuters around Idumota, Oluwole, Kosoko areas of the Lagos Island which made many scampered for safety and many shops locked.
